Wind Terminal (Remote Access) (Financial Terminals) Capacity: 1

Description

The library was able to set up VCL access to Wind financial terminal for NYU Shanghai students studying remotely. Here are the steps and tips to access WIND on VCL:

1. Submit your request here to apply for WIND VCL access first. 
2. Upon receiving an approval message from the library,  visit https://nyu-shanghai.libcal.com/spaces?lid=6528&gid=0 to book a timeslot to use WIND on VCL. The maximum booking duration is 120 minutes. 
3. Visit  https://vcl.shanghai.nyu.edu/  to use the terminal. You will be prompted to download and install Citrix for the first time you use NYU Shanghai VCL.

Important Notes before using VCL for the first time 

1. Only 1 user can access the WIND terminal on VCL at a time and it is important that you sign out from VCL when you finish your work so other people can use the terminal. Simply exiting or disconnecting does not end your session and others will not be able to sign in. 
2. You will also be automatically signed out from your sessions after 30 minutes of inactivity and lose any data you are working with VCL.  
3. When trying to access WIND on VCL, if you see a message of “Cannot start desktop Wind Static '', it means another user is using the terminal. Please double check and make sure you are trying to access the terminal at a time you have booked. If you are indeed accessing the terminal at your booked time but still sees the message, please contact IT at shanghai.it.help@nyu.edu to restart VCL. 
4. Please do not turn off the WIND VCL computer when you log it out.
